Gameplay [ ]

Greed Mode Layout.png

In Greed mode, each flooring has a Curse Room Curse Room, a Devil Room Devil Room/Angel Room Affections Room, a double-broad Shop, and an exit room all connected to a principal double-height arena room with a button in the middle. A Super Secret Room Super Secret Room is as well continued to ane of the rooms. The silver Treasure Room always gives items from the Dominate pool. The 6th flooring (The Shop) does not accept any Treasure Rooms but does take the Shop and Curse Rooms. The last 7th floor has no waves and contains merely three rooms, the largest of which contains the game mode'south final boss.

When playing Greed Mode, a yellowish coin (Greed mode only) will appear on the HUD, below the consumables.

Shop [ ]

Loonshit [ ]

The 1x2 room in the centre of all floors except the final one is the Loonshit, where most of the game mode's coins and enemies come up from. These rooms always have a button in the eye that, when pressed, bars all the doors and starts spawning waves of enemies and coins. While active, the button has a timer underneath it that counts down; when the timer runs out or all enemies in the current wave are killed, the next moving ridge spawns. This continues until wave 8 or ten is reached, Isaac dies, or Isaac presses the push button once again. Pressing the push before all the waves have spawned deals half a middle of impairment to Isaac (or removes 1 penny from the side by side wave if playing as The Lost The Lost or Tainted Lost Tainted Lost) and stops the timer that causes waves to spawn automatically. Once the timer stops and all remaining enemies are killed, the doors re-open. The button tin then be reactivated to keep progressing through the waves. All waves except the optional "nightmare" wave must exist completed for the door to the adjacent floor to open.

For the first 8 waves, the timer will get-go at a set time and and so increase by 1 second for subsequent waves. For Basement Basement and Caves Caves, the clock starts at 6 seconds. For Depths Depths, the clock starts at 5 seconds. For Womb Womb, the clock starts at 4 seconds. For Sheol Sheol and The Shop The Store, the clock starts back at vi seconds again. The kickoff boss moving ridge is set at 30 seconds on all floors.

The enemies spawned by each wave is determined by the wave number and current floor. For the initial fix of 8 waves, the starting time iii waves volition use the floor'south "easy" enemy pool, the three waves afterwards that employ the flooring's "medium" enemy pool, and the last two waves utilize the flooring'due south "hard" enemy pool. For the ending two waves, the first moving ridge uses the flooring's "easy boss" puddle, and the second wave uses the floor'south "medium boss" pool. Upon completing the second boss moving ridge of the floor, an optional nightmare dominate moving ridge, which uses the floor's "hard boss" pool, can exist started past pushing the push again. Clearing the wave grants access to the floor's Devil Room Devil Room/Angel Room Angel Room. Note that "boss" pools tin include multiple (mini)bosses spread out across the room.

Added in Repentance Enemies can spawn as Champions as normal, but will not drop items, with the exception of The Hollow The Hollow'due south gold champion, which drops coins every bit normal.

At the first of each wave (except the nightmare dominate wave), Pennies are dropped on the ground, which Isaac tin can use in the Shop to purchase items and pickups. Waves i-three, v, half dozen, and eight drop ii pennies, waves 4 and 7 drib three pennies, the first boss wave drops iv pennies, and the 2d boss wave drops 5 pennies. The mob waves requite a total of xviii coins and the boss waves give a total of nine coins, for a floor total of 27 coins.

Each new wave counts as a new 'room' for purposes of item charges, familiars dropping items or the like. However, one-room temporary furnishings, such as The Book of Belial The Book of Belial, will remain across waves, and items that activate upon entering a new room will not activate when a new moving ridge starts.

Floors [ ]

Greed mode has vii total floors, v of which are based on floors constitute in the master game. These floors are Basement Basement, Caves Caves, Depths Depths, Womb Womb, Sheol Sheol, a unique floor called The Shop The Shop, and the final boss floor. Each flooring will spawn enemies and bosses native to that floor in the main game, except for The Shop, which has no counterpart outside of Greed mode. Instead, The Shop spawns mostly Greed enemies, simply can also spawn enemies from whatsoever flooring. The Shop is the simply normal floor which does non comprise Treasure Rooms.

After Ultra Greed has been defeated, turning him into a gilded statue, a Terminal Boss Chest to end the level and the Greed Donation Machine.png Greed Donation Machine volition spawn. • This makes items such every bit The Wafer The Wafer less useful, since in that location is a limited number of enemies that could cause more than than a half centre of damage. However, they can still be used for the Ultra Greed boss fight, since all of his attacks deal a total heart of impairment.
  • Killing all the enemies before the timer resets doesn't increment the number of coins produced.
  • The expressionless shop keepers take a very low risk of dropping Steam Sale Steam Auction when bombed.
  • Sometimes spending the acquired pennies may be wiser on the next floor. Certain collectible items, hearts or keys may be on sale a depth below, which saves money compared to refilling them when not yet necessary.

Past repeating the process long enough you tin go infinite coins, Swallowed Penny Swallowed Penny being able to spawn 5c and 10c coins and being guaranteed 1c per one-half red heart. If Mom's Box Mom's Box is held, this method can be performed without a discounted ruby center as the number of coins spawned past Swallowed Penny Swallowed Penny will be doubled.
    • Added in Repentance Method #5: Echo Chamber Echo Chamber + 2 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds results in infinite coins if pills or cards are being sold in the shop. • During Greedier manner, beating Ultra Greedier with poop in the room turns it into golden colored poops, however, information technology'll drop normal brown poop pickups.

Bugs [ ]

Bug Bug! If the Super Surreptitious Room is generated behind the locked (golden) Treasure Room, it is possible to go stuck past teleporting into before unlocking the Treasure Room. The Treasure Room doors all go unlocked when i of them is, unlike the normal game mode where a Treasure Room may accept merely one locked door, which results in the bombable wall between the Super Undercover Room and the Treasure Room also being "locked". It cannot be bombed or opened with a key from inside the Super Secret Room, and unless another means of teleporting is available, the run is softlocked.
Bug Bug! Added in Repentance Red Key Red Key and Cracked Key Croaky Key will testify red door outlines, but are not likely to be able to open them as Greed Mode lacks 4-exit 1x1 normal rooms, leaving merely special rooms as a rare possibility..
